The capital of the region is Szilvásvárad, situated at the North-Western foot of the mountain with several beautiful nature sites and other spectacles. Szalajka-valley and Bükk range and the most beautiful mountainous valley of the country also belong to the area. Its marvelous natural sites and tourist stops include Szalajka-stream, Szikla fountain, Fátyol-waterfall, the cave of prehistoric man at Istállóskő, the Forest Museum and the trout lakes.
