The "capital" of the region, Szilvásvárad, located at the northwestern foot of the mountain range, also has many natural and man-made attractions. The Szalajka valley belonging to the village is the Bükk mountain range and is the most beautiful high-mountain valley in the country. Its wonderful natural features and special attractions are the Szalajka Stream, Sziklaforrás, Fátyol Waterfall, Stállóskő Cave, the Forest Museum and the trout lakes.
